What is Biometry?
”The science of applying measurable physiological or behavioural characteristics to prove or verify the identity of a person.”

The need for accurate identification of individuals has long been recognized. A person's identity must be established before he or she can, for example, withdraw money from a bank, open a safe, enter certain buildings or cross boarders.

In all these cases we speak of ”verification“. When a person claims to be authorized to do something or to have a certain identity, this claim has to be verified.

In biometry we also speak of the comparison one-to-one (verification) or the comparison one-to-many (identification). In the following we refer to the process of verification.
